Clare Ferguson

Clare is passionate about the interrelationships between the environment and people. With a background as an engineer specialising in rural and urban water, she has recently joined Aither to focus on program evaluation, policy review and strategic advice.

Clare draws on her practical, on-ground experience in natural resource management to support clients in making decisions at a strategic level. She has undertaken a diverse range of projects for local and State government agencies, designated authorities and private industry clients, including application of MER frameworks for waterway management; surface water assessments to inform mine planning and risk management; design of works and works programs for flood recovery and resilience; and stormwater management strategies and asset design for councils, government and private developers. Clare’s technical background enables her to understand natural systems and the practicalities of natural resource management programs.

Clare grew up on a dairy farm in Gippsland and her agricultural background gives her inherent insight into rural communities and land management. The transition between rural and city life helps her to see other perspectives and relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

Clare is a natural problem solver with an inquisitive mind. Conscientious with a strong sense of personal responsibility, Clare is recognised by peers and clients for producing rigourous analysis and clear reports.
