Joseph Lorimer

Solving complex problems can require someone with a fresh perspective – this is Joe. A creative thinker, Joe is driven to find answers to the multifaceted environmental challenges of today.

Joe brings a critical, methodical and inquisitive approach to his work, combining diverse skill sets and knowledge from his professional experience as a consultant, and academic studies in environmental and public policy, corporate sustainability, GIS, environmental economics and systems thinking.

For his academic achievements, Joe was awarded the Australian Institute of Science and Technology Prize (2015) for the best results in Bachelor of Science (Resource and Environmental Management) at the Australian National University (ANU). Additionally, Joe was awarded the ANU Award for most outstanding student in Environmental Policy (2014), which specifically recognised his potential to make a difference in this field. This academic success is undoubtedly underpinned by Joe’s aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving. These skills have also enabled Joe to excel in his role as a consultant, making sense of and extracting practicable advice and insights from complex issues.

Since joining Aither in early 2015, Joe has made significant contributions to the development and design of major national environmental, agricultural and water sector policies and programs as well as taking the lead on smaller engagements. Joe’s project experience at Aither includes working for Animal Health Australia to deliver cost-sharing guidance for national responses to aquatic diseases, helping Department of Agriculture and Water Resources develop a program for innovative business models in Agriculture, researching and shaping water reform options and pathways for Infrastructure Australia, and providing due diligence and strategic advice for private sector investors.
