Lawson Cole

Lawson is passionate about understanding the effects that changes in policy, markets and environmental conditions have on people and communities. Combining a natural inquisitiveness with knowledge of science, natural resource management and public policy, Lawson is proficient at distilling practicable insights and advice from contested issues.

Since joining Aither in 2015, Lawson has made significant contributions to a range of projects spanning water resource management, regulation, economic development and natural hazards, as well as taking the lead on smaller engagements. Lawson’s project experience at Aither includes:

  • Project management support to workstreams contributing to WaterNSW’s response to the NSW Water Reform
  • Helping IPART to write an Issues Paper for a review of public water utilities and Water Industry Competition Act license performance indicators
  • Undertaking cost benefit analysis of Natural Disaster Funding Arrangements in Victoria
  • Undertaking economic evaluation of regional development funding initiatives and programs for Regional Development Victoria
  • Assessment of the development of water markets in New South Wales
  • Undertaking water markets analysis for private and public-sector clients.

Lawson has also gained valuable experience and insight into government agencies through secondments with the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Melbourne Water and WaterNSW.

Diligent, adaptable and efficient, Lawson brings both sharp analysis and a relaxed and reasoned approach to his work.
