Shaina Shay

Shaina is a specialist in water resource economics and environmental conservation, with extensive knowledge of the Victorian water market and United States water resource management.

Prior to joining Aither, Shaina was a senior trading policy officer at the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water, and Planning where she contributed to several major Water for Victoria actions – including working on a framework to evaluate water market effectiveness, an audit of market intermediaries and refining intra-state trading rules.

Shaina values efficiency, an open mind and action. She is passionate about creating positive change by using the powerful interactions between economics, natural resource management and policy. Shaina is an experienced communicator on these topics having given over 50 stakeholder workshops and presentations on water resources and conservation.

Shaina was awarded most Outstanding Graduate for the Bachelor of Environment and Water Resource Economics from the University of Arizona in 2012. Her thesis evaluated the potential to use religious institutions to encourage better waste management practices in Senegal.
