Steve Dovers

Steve Dovers is an Emeritus Professor with the Fenner School of Environment and Society, Australian National University, having been Director of the Fenner School from 2009-2017.

With degrees in ecology and geography and a PhD in public policy, he is a leading Australian researcher in the policy and institutional aspects of natural resources, environmental management and disasters. He has worked as a researcher, teacher and consultant across multiple sectors including emergency management, biodiversity, forests, water resources and climate adaptation.

He is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and member of the Panel A Committee of the Academy, Chair of the Steering Committee of Future Earth Australia, and co-author of the standard texts Handbook of disaster policies and institutions (2nd edition, Routledge 2013) and Environment and sustainability: a policy handbook (2nd edition, Federation Press 2013).
