Get to know

Steve Dovers is an Emeritus Professor with the Fenner School of Environment and Society, Australian National University, having been Director of the School from 2009-2017. He is a leading Australian researcher in the policy and institutional aspects of natural resources, environmental management and disasters.

He has worked as a researcher, teacher and consultant across multiple sectors including emergency management, biodiversity, forests, urban systems, water and climate change adaptation.

Steve is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, Associate Editor of the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management, and member of the editorial boards of the international journals Environmental Science and Policy, Resilience, and Local Environment. In addition to his extensive teaching roles Steve is widely published and has authored, co-authored or edited over 200 articles, books, chapters, reports and conference papers, and led or co-led externally-funded research projects totalling over AUD$6 million.
