Simon combines a background in public policy with expertise in the latest quantitative techniques. He leads Aither’s quantitative economics team and excels at solving challenging problems, from estimating the benefits of water trade across thousands of New Zealand catchments to optimising the timing of billion-dollar investments to address climate change. Simon also regularly provides economics training to Australian and overseas governments, including working with the World Bank Group in Bangladesh.

Before joining Aither, Simon was a Senior Economist at the Productivity Commission, the Australian Government’s independent research and advisory body on economic reform. He played a key role in a number of major inquiries, including a review of the workplace relations framework and industry assistance for greenhouse gas mitigation policies. Simon has also worked at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (now ABARES), where he led analysis of the impacts of the Australian Government’s water buyback program.

Simon is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with clients to make a positive difference.
