Aither’s first launch event for the Water Markets Report was held in Melbourne. Great to hear from Gabrielle Ford from the ACCC about the upcoming Inquiry, and thanks to Joe Banks for highlighting some of work around delivery risks that DELWP will be working on this season.

Canberra

We heard from Phillip Glyde, Chief Executive Murray-Daring Basin Authority, Les Gordon, Chair National Farmers Federation Water Taskforce, and Aither’s own Chris Olszak about the how water markets have triggered structural adjustment across the MDB more rapidly than anticipated, creating winners and losers not just among irrigators, but among communities and industries as well.

Sydney

Matthew Coulton, the Bureau of Meteorology’s Water Sector Engagement Lead, presented the latest data on just how dry conditions are in the MDB, and Kaia Hodge, Director Regulatory Innovation, NSW Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) outlined how NRAR is using remote sensing and data analytics to support monitoring and compliance that contributes to maintaining public trust and confidence in the enforcement of water legislation.

Adelaide

We wrapped up the 2018-19 Water Markets Report Launches in Adelaide. Thank you to the Water Industry Alliance who once again hosted the event for us. We heard from Ashley Kingsborough, SA Department for Environment and Water, Anna Hooper, Australian Grape and Wine and Aither’s Chris Olszak to discuss how the current markets are impacting on industry and the importance of clear timely provision of information to assist everyone in making better decisions.
